About LaLicenciada: Li

You may have spotted her on twitter, followed her facebook page or stumbled on her blog “Her Deep Thoughts.” She is a member of the Latino Blogosphere and she goes by LaLicenciada. Who is LaLicenciada and why does she love blogging? That’s what we wanted to know. So we’ve invited her here to fill us in and answer these two simple questions as part of our “About” interview series where we look for Latino bloggers and get their insight on blogging so that it might inspire more Latinos to enter the blogosphere. Thanks Li!

Could you give us some background about yourself?

I’m a Puertorriqueña (with a dash of Irish and Spanish – the Spanish is sort of redundant, though). I was born and raised in Brooklyn but my mom pulled my sister and myself out of school to go to Aguadilla about three times a year. My mother made it her mission to instill a strong sense of Puerto Rican pride in us. Thus, as a child I grew up clutching onto my Puerto Rican identity with my little fists. And I’m all the better for it. I simply ADORE Puerto Rico!

Aside from my frequent sojourns to La Isla del Encanto, I attended an all girls High School, graduated Cum Laude from college, survived law school in New England and came back to NYC to dive right back into this salad bowl of culture – it’s the only way I can survive! I previously worked in marketing, then as an elementary school teacher, and I’ve been in litigation for over three and a half years.

When I hit thirty I decided to nurture my creative side and dove right into passions I had all but abandoned: writing and acting. It’s been a blast.

How often do you go online? And what are you doing during a regular visit to the web?
I go online daily. It’s an addiction. Mostly I’m on twitter via my blackberry whenever I’m bored or during my lunch or my Café con leche break. When I get home I post to my blog queue if something inspired me during the day and I’ll check my facebook fan page about once a week. I try to post to my blog on the weekends, but there are times where I can be found typing in the middle of the night nurturing this obsession. My vlog, however, has been slightly neglected because, honestly, its just not that easy to make a video blog.

You named your blog “Her Deep Thoughts” It sounds like this is an outlet for you. Is that true?
Absolutely. However “deep thoughts” is being used facetiously.
